Bangladesh's education reforms

The ugc is the foremost institution in Bangladesh governing universities. It oversees everything that universities are bound to do: from recruitment, governance and overall directions.

Anyone who has interacted with professors know they can be fiercely independent and hard charging so the role of the UGC is a hard one. It has to balance the interests of the students, it has to balance the independence of the institutions and it has to balance the needs of the education system in Bangladesh. It's a masterclass in juggling multiple different objects at the same time.

Right now the UGC needs to adapt our tertiary level education to reflect the needs of the new economy. Developing capable experts who can use AI and digital tools and graduates who can adapt vigorously with changing circumstances are critical for both the future of Bangladesh and the quality of the universities.

We need to make sure that our students are coming out with a rich wealth of knowledge about the tools they will use and the skills to deftly use them.
